I am so happy to have found a spot in midtown that ISN’T super stuffy and uptight, ISN’T cheesy and touristy and ISN’T ridiculously expensive. Anthos turned their cozy little second floor into a recessionary spin-off restaurant, with sub-Anthos prices. It’s essentially Greek tapas and I tried almost all of them last week, when some girlfriends and I hit it up for a post-MOMA movie bite and some wine. It was perfect, the room was charming and quiet, with a great wine list and really good food. Everything is priced under $15, and you could definitely be satisfied ordering two plates for yourself. On the other hand, it would be very easy for this meal to spiral into something more expensive, so if you’re on a budget, stick to one of the tasty Greek wines by the glass (priced around $6) and order the super filling dumplings.
